Chen Le (陈乐)

Chen Le is a composer-pianist based in Singapore & Sydney. He is a graduate of LASALLE College of the Arts under the tutelage of Dr. John Sharpley & Benjamin Loh; an active member of the Association of Composers, Singapore & COMPASS; a spokesperson for the local charity Club Rainbow (for the less abled) and a pianist & songwriter under Bella Entertainment. 

His 2023 composition showcases include: Composer-pianist Four-hand Series: Sydney Uniting Church & Singapore Conference Hall -- a world premiere of his piano work: “After Ray's Matilda (2023); Le’s Vocal Originals -- "陈乐声乐作品发表会" (2019 - 23) with sponsorship from Bechstein Music World & Esplanade; "Le's Singapore Impressions -- eight movements for pipa & piano" (2023) with Dr. Sharpley and Yan Yu at Lion Studios. 

His past composition showcases are: "Twelve Violin Pieces"(2020), "Planet Earth Song Cycle, 行星地球之歌-- seven songs for piano and voice" (2019), "Le's Poetic Keys, poetry in piano improvisation"(2019), "Journey into Sound and Beyond: A two-concert series for keyboard improvisation, singing bowls & Gongs" (2019), “City of Stars”(2019), "Four Seasons: for piano & dance"(2015), "Improvisation on Van Gogh's Painting -- field of flowers"(2015), "The Ugly One" (2014) & "The Spin -- for meditation dance"(2014). 

His “For Leila: an interstellar folk song (2023)” will be premiered in his ongoing four-hand series with Ziv Pinco at Sydney Conservatorium, Esplanade Recital Studio and Shenzhen in 2024; his latest six-movement work written for Peking opera, soprano, violin and piano -- Double Feature (2024) will also be premiered next year in the newly founded Central Art Library, Singapore.

 

Chen Le was invited by Esplanade, Theatre by the Bay & LearnX Arts to record Chopin’s twelve etudes, Op. 10 (2022) & "Art of Action in Piano Performance -- a composer-pianist masterclass with Chen Le" (2021). He was interviewed by Vitality Health, Lucas Overseas & Edufest Singapore (online series) focusing on benefits of music education, traits of the industry & personal reflections (2020-2021) during Covid lockdown.
