Young Artist Programme
The Robert School of Music's Young Artist Programme (YAP) is an immersive programme that nurtures high-potential pre-college talents aspiring to professional training.
YAP is designed for post-grade 8 Junior RSM students aged approximately 11-18 years. Places are allocated by audition and are limited to 25 students at any one time. The programme offer's two devisions for students to chose from; Chamber devision & Solo devision.
YAP student's also have access to our Future Music Makers Scholarship & Young Artist Instrumental Fund.
RSM Young Artists have access to the following opportunities:
• Free chamber music coaching
• Performance opportunities
• Free tickets to RSM and other events
• Masterclass participation
• Platform/presentation coaching
• Mentoring from music and other professionals
• Access to accompanists
Eligibility: Junior RSM students attending secondary school in the 2023/2024 academic year. Students who are in their last year of school will only be eligible for one year of the programme.
In exceptional circumstances, primary school students may be considered for the Young Artist Programme. Teachers may only nominate one student in this category for consideration by the Heads of Faculty and Head of Junior RSM.
Application Deadline: December 12 2025, 5.00 pm.
Audition: Candidates will be invited to audition in January and an RSM accompanist is available for the Preliminary Round.
Programme: All candidates must present a contrasting programme of three works (or movements from larger works), up to a maximum limit of 15 minutes, of which a selection will be heard by the panel.
The Heads of Faculty & Guest Adjudicators will assess students who wish to be part of this programme. Cross-faculty balance representation is taken into in the selection process.
